Malaga by Ivan Aivazovsky was created in 1854 and is in The Aivazovsky National Art Gallery. The size of the work is 44 x 54 cm and is made of oil on canvas.
About the Work
The painting “Malaga,” like many of Aivazovsky’s other works, was created from memory and imagination, based on sketches the artist brought back from his travels. It is known that Ivan Konstantinovich visited the Spanish city of Malaga in 1843 during a trip abroad: following a successful exhibition in Paris, the artist traveled to England, and from there, he arrived in Spain by steamship, passing through Portugal.
